This research group is led by Dr. Bob Wharton and Dr. Jim Woolley, professors in the Department of Entomology, Texas A&M University.
These two laboratories study the taxonomy, biology and use in
biological control of parasitic wasps (Hymenoptera) in the superfamily
Chalcidoidea and the families Braconidae, Ichneumonidae, Figitidae and
Diapriidae. These wasps are a primary source of natural enemies for the
natural and biological control of pest insects. In addition, they are
important components of the biological diversity in both natural and
managed ecosystems.
